Retro VIP Multi-Piece Dish Design
Ready Designs
I wanted to share my latest wheel concept focused on bridging the gap between old-school Japanese luxury aesthetics and modern surface finishes. This design was specifically tailored for vintage sedan profiles where a massive visual footprint is needed to ground the car. The core of the design is a substantial, flat-face disc that provides a broad canvas for light to interact with. By moving away from traditional thin spokes, this solid-face approach gives the vehicle a much more commanding and armored presence on the street. The face features five clean, geometric cutouts that provide just enough negative space to reveal the depth of the barrel without sacrificing the 'big block' look. I chose a high-end brushed silver finish for the center to emphasize the directional machining marks, which really come alive under urban night lighting. This is paired with a high-luster stepped lip that adds a classic modular feel. The visible perimeter hardware reinforces the multi-piece construction, adding a layer of technical detail that contrasts beautifully with the smooth, sweeping lines of the vintage bodywork. On this specific build, the wheel setup completely redefines the vehicle's stance. The wide barrels and aggressive offset allow the lips to sit nearly flush with the arches, creating that iconic tucked look. The silver tones provide a sharp, clean contrast against deep, dark paint, ensuring the wheels remain the focal point even in low-light environments. My goal was to create something that feels like it could have been a period-correct premium option, but with the crisp edges and refined textures available through modern design. The way the light rolls across the flat surface while the car is in motion creates a consistent, shimmering effect that you just don't get with thin-spoke designs. It’s all about creating a look that is both heavy and sophisticated.
