Precision Machined Geometric Star Concept
by JamesJack · Ready Design
Sharing my latest wheel design concept tailored for a high-end grand tourer. The primary goal for this project was to bridge the gap between architectural precision and the fluid, organic lines of a luxury coupe. The result is a complex, multi-pointed star configuration that relies on sharp geometric intersections to create a sense of mechanical movement even when the vehicle is stationary. By utilizing a high-contrast bi-color finish, the intricate spoke structure is pushed to the forefront, allowing the brushed silver facing to pop against the deep black recesses of the wheel barrel. The spoke architecture features a nested star pattern where several Y-shaped elements converge toward the center hub. This radial symmetry creates a snowflake-like effect that feels both modern and sophisticated. One of the key focuses during the design process was the surface character of the machined face. By keeping the top surface flat and silver, the wheel catches ambient light in a way that emphasizes the large diameter and fills out the wheel wells perfectly. The depth of the black-painted inner sections provides a necessary visual weight, ensuring the wheels feel grounded and robust rather than spindly. When mounted on a dark-toned vehicle, these wheels completely transform the car's presence from a subtle daily driver into a more focused, custom-tailored machine. The bright metallic finish contrasts sharply with the glossy dark paint of the bodywork, drawing the eye immediately to the rolling gear. The stance is designed to be flush, maintaining the elegant proportions of the chassis while adding an aggressive edge through the sheer complexity of the multi-spoke layout. This setup is about celebrating the intersection of mathematics and automotive art, providing a look that is far more technical than a standard factory wheel while respecting the heritage of the platform. I am really satisfied with how the light plays off the different facets of the spokes, creating varying shades of grey and silver depending on the viewing angle.
