The Finish Took Longer Than the Wheel

AI Custom Design

When I bought my 992, I already knew which wheel design I wanted. I had seen this style on a few builds over the years, and every time I came back to it. The proportions were right, the spokes were clean, and it never felt like it was trying too hard. Ironically, choosing the wheel was the easy part. Choosing the finish turned out to be much harder. At first I thought gloss silver would be the obvious choice. It looked clean, but once I imagined it on my car, everything blended together. Satin black went too far in the other direction. The wheel almost disappeared, and the details that made me like the design in the first place were gone. That's when I opened JamesJack AI. Instead of browsing endless color samples, I started describing the feeling I wanted. I wanted the wheel to look like it belonged on the car from day one—not louder, not more aggressive, just more intentional. The AI generated several finishes I probably wouldn't have considered myself. Some leaned toward dark titanium, others had warmer metallic tones, and a few experimented with different brushed textures. What I liked most was that I wasn't choosing from a catalog anymore. Every round felt like a conversation. I'd tell the AI what looked off—"too reflective," "too dark," "show more machining"—and the next version always moved closer to what I had in my head. Eventually I landed on this brushed graphite finish. It's not the first thing people notice, and that's exactly why I like it. The color changes subtly depending on the light, the brushed texture gives the wheel just enough depth, and the whole car feels more complete without looking modified. Looking back, I didn't really design a new wheel. I just found the finish that this wheel had been waiting for.
